Men's Health January 2010 Cover Boy
Written by Ricky T. Gallardo / All Access

We heard it took a lot of courting and convincing before controversial matinee idol Piolo Pascual finally agreed to pose as cover boy for the local Men's Health magazine.

When we got hold of the magazine, we thought he should've taken his shirt off, since there's nothing to hide anyway. It's a fitness magazine and if you've got it, then why hesitate to show it?

The photos on the inside pages that accompanied the article were far more interesting. The inspiration was plucked out of Fight Club, where only the toughest is hailed as the true victor. Perhaps the editors wanted to make a great parallelism between Piolo's challenging journey as a celebrity and that of a real fighter inside the ring.

For many years, despite having reached a very comfortable status in local show business, Piolo continues to be haunted by controversies and intrigues. He has been pained by a lot of allegations and nasty talk about his true sexual orientation and preference, but he always used silence and his many good Christian virtues as his weapons to combat all these tirades.

In both his professional and private lives, Piolo continues to push himself to be the best he can be. He has experienced major flops in his movies and TV projects, but he has also scored sweet victories lately.

In the feature article, Piolo tells Men's Health about his plan to focus more on sports and fitness this 2010. Running is on top of his list of activities and he shares that he plans to do a lot of running during his free time.

"I want to be better, that's why I train every other day," he says, adding, "the same as with working out, you always challenge yourself. You always want to be better in whatever you do."

We do hope that Piolo will make good decisions this year in his career because in the end, he'd be another proof that one can never argue with success.
